It is important to note that the Permanent Mission is also accredited to Austria, Greece, Switzerland and Turkey, as well as to International Organisations in Vienna, Austria.
The website gives an overview of Botswana’s history, culture and information about trade and the economy, as well as various opportunities and benefits of doing business in Botswana. This is our effort to provide access to information on Botswana by our valued customers, stakeholders and the general public, in pursuit of our Mission to promote the interests of Botswana in our area of coverage. It also gives the portfolio of the Mission.
Botswana is the world’s largest producer by value of gem-quality diamonds. She is also known for her macro-economic stability, prudent management of resources, notable economic growth, as well as good governance and respect for the rule of law. Botswana offers investment opportunities in our wide range of sectors and is blessed with a variety of raw materials. The country’s young and vibrant economy makes it a destination of choice.
Our country is home to the world’s largest inland delta, the legendary Okavango Delta, the undulating sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert and hosts an unimaginable variety of flora and fauna. It is our pleasant duty to let you know about these important places of interest of international acclaim and above all, the friendship and hospitality of the beautiful as well as peace-loving people of Botswana.

BIOGRAPHY
In May 2017, Dr. Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme was appointed to her current position of Permanent Representative of Botswana to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva and Ambassador to Switzerland and on a non – residential basis to Austria, Greece and Turkey. Dr. Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme is a Botswana citizen who attained a Masters in Law (LLM) from Yale Law School, USA in 1983, and a Doctorate in Law (PhD) in Law at Leiden University, the Netherlands in 1991. She also holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB) in London, and is a Fellow of the CIARB. She taught law and conducted research at the University of Botswana from 1981 to 1996, and served as the founding head of the Gender Unit at the Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from 1998-2003.
In 2003, Dr Molokomme was appointed judge of the High Court of Botswana, and from 2005 to 2016, she served as Attorney General of the Republic of Botswana and ex-officio member of the Botswana Cabinet.
On the international side, Dr Molokomme is currently a member of the Africa Group on Justice and Accountability; the Nuremberg Advisory Council; the Justice Leadership Group; Justice Rapid Response Board and the Global Board of the International Gender Champions.
